Every family has their favorite sides for tacos. We are no different. We have our very favorites combined here so that you are easily get to the ones you want. Of course Magnolia will have more options on the blog, click here for the recipes for three types of street tacos.
FRESH salsa
We have our salsa recipe, here. It is in the easy taco sides list because we have intentionally created a recipe that is consistent, uses just a few ingredients and uses mostly shelf stable ingredients. Mostly this means we use canned tomatoes.
Black Bean and Corn Dip
This can be made at to be chilled or heated and it is great either way. I will give you a simple recipe right here:
1 can black beans
1 can kernel corn + 1 can white corn (or frozen mixed corn)
1/2 cup diced onion (green or yellow)
1/2 cup mayo (more to taste)
1/2 cup sour cream or greek yogurt (more to taste)
1 Tbsp Taco Season
chopped cilantro, to taste
Mix this together and serve.
The dip stores for a week or so in the fridge and it can also be heated on the stove. We use this in tacos, burritos, as a chip dip… or as lunch.
TACO SAUCE
Mix equal parts Cholula and Thousand Island dressing. It makes a tasty, sweet, spicy taco sauce, without any fancy ingredient. Every time we make it we remember how good it really tastes!
TACO SLAW
We use this most often with fish tacos. This is best if made in the morning and served later. We also chose to make this simple.
1 bag of trim color slaw
1 can diced mango (drained)
1 cup salsa (we use our fresh salsa)
lime juice (half or whole – to taste)
2 tsp salt
This comes out so yummy and crispy. We love the bright crunch, especially over warm fried fish. I don’t usually beg – but please try this! It makes me want to go make fish tacos right now!
